Project Overview
The 300 MW / 1,200 MWh Haddy Energy Storage facility will provide energy and capacity services to the local grid, enhancing grid reliability and accelerating the integration of locally produced energy. The project will abide by the most stringent design and safety standards to ensure the project supports the electric grid in a safe and orderly manner while providing maximum benefits to Winslow Township.
The Haddy Energy storage Project is located just south of the Atlantic City Electric Sickler Substation, allowing direct connection to regional transmission lines. This type of energy storage facility helps reduce grid congestion and would improve electricity reliability for Winslow Township and nearby areas by storing excess energy for use during peak demand or emergencies. Surrounded by dense trees, the project will be naturally screened from streets and neighboring properties. After construction, Haddy will not require water for operations and will utilize low lighting that meets dark sky standards. Its few full-time workers will contribute minimally to traffic.
Construction of the Haddy facility is anticipated to start in 2028. The 2030 completion of the facility will help New Jersey meet its goal of installing 2,000 MW of energy storage by 2030 and will immediately provide key services to the electric grid that serves Winslow Township and surrounding areas.
